Town Meeting Day

As the first Tuesday in March comes along, all Vermonters know that town meeting day is upon us.  This year in Sheffield wind power is on top of the list of things to discuss.  As of February 7th, 2009, the Court gave ruling that the towers could go up.  Once all the permits are in tact, the towers would take about one year to build.  The group known as the "ridge protectors" does not want these towers to go up.  They believe that the 420 foot towers will take away from the beautiful rural Vermont mountains and take away from tourism.  They also believe this will open the door for other wind projects to be started over different parts of the state.  On the positive end on things this could help the economy.  Providing 75 new jobs for the designing and engineering part of the facility, and more jobs for local employment of the roads and electrical parts of the construction.  This is an ongoing issue that will have town members on their toes ready to act. For more information about the wind towers visit their site at Sheffield Wind.
